Frequently asked questions

We have FAQs about shipping Labels by Mail, Die Cut Stickers, sizes and more. Below are some of the most common questions we received in regards to labels.

What size label should I get?

All our labels are die cut with rounded corners (except .5mm aluminium), weeded and supplied on rolls ready to apply.

Choosing your label size is all about how many lines you would like to use on your label.

The following are our recommendations.

  • 1 – 2 lines of text is suitable for 36mm x 16mm size
    (not suitable for logos)
  • 2 – 3 lines of text is suitable for 38mm x 20mm size
(OR YOUR LOGO with 1 – 2 lines of text)
  • 3 – 4 lines of text is suitable for 50mm x 25mm size
(OR YOUR LOGO with 2 – 3 lines of text)

We can also make your barcode and numbers larger at your request.

We will contact you if the length of text is unsuitable for the label size selected.

Anodised Aluminium,
0.3 mm thick, self adhesive
0.5 mm thick, self adhesive or 2 holes
1.0 mm thick, 2 holes
Suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, harsh environments or subject to handling, wear and tear.  The label will resist scratching, abrasion and is unaffected by oil, grease, most chemicals or UV exposure.  An aggressive adhesive is used to stick to practically all surfaces or with 2 holes for rivet or screw attachment.  A slight curve on the inner metal can be accommodated when no flat surface is available by pre bending the label to shape.  Applications: Office, workshop, industrial, marine, external exposure.

Silver Mylar
White Polypropylene & Tyretac
Both matt silver mylar and matt white polypropylene are tough waterproof flexible materials with an aggressive permanent adhesive suitable for indoor or sheltered outdoor use on both flat and curved surfaces.  The standard label is suitable for items not subjected to constant handling, wear and tear, solvents, oil and grease.  Applications: Office, warehouse

Over Laminated Silver Mylar
Over Laminated White Polypropylene
Over laminating adds durability by protecting the printing on the label.  The printed image is sandwiched beneath a clear layer of Mylar. The overlay gives the surface more protection and will slow down the wear and tear of frequent rubbing or cleaning using  cleaning solutions.  Mild solvent, oil and grease resistant.
Applications: Laptops, iPads, mobile phones, power tools
Abrasion and scuff resistance

For indoor labels, this can be improved with the addition of a clear laminate.  A clear polyester overlay gives the surface more protection and will slow down the wear and tear of frequent rubbing or cleaning using  cleaning solutions.

About the clear gloss over laminate option
  • Scuff resistant surface
  • Available for 1 or 2 colour labels only
  • Extends lifespan of label
  • Suitable for indoor only.
How do I prepare the surface for adhesion?

For best results with all labels, the area where the label is to be affixed should be cleaned so that the surface is free from oil and dust.  The label is then firmly applied, being pressure sensitive.  Maximum adhesive strength develops over 48 hours.

Please note: it is a common error for people applying labels to still have residual cleaner on their fingers.  This will prevent proper adhesion.

TIP: Wash and dry your hands thoroughly after using cleaning agents before attempting to apply the labels.

How long before my asset label will stick really firmly?

The longer time the better is the simplest answer.  Many of our clients attach a label and then immediately try to peel it off.  Naturally, it comes off as the adhesive has not had sufficient time to go “off”.  A minimum of 24 hours is required before true adhesion begins.  Longer periods, the label is harder and harder to get off.
